The museum is devoted to the exhibition, preservation and researches of the carved-stone reliefs of the Han Dynasties (202 B.C.-A.D.220). What depicted in the stone reliefs ranges widely from the earthly livelihoods of humans to the paradise of celestial beings. The stone reliefs, reputed as "pictorial historic records" for their vivid presentation of pictures, are of great value for historic and art researches. Xuzhou Han-dynasty carved-stone reliefs, Nanjing ancient stone inscriptions and Suzhou Garden are termed the Three Treasures of Jiangsu.
